A Qualitative Research on Women's Psychological Procedures in Forgiving their Parents to Develop an Art Therapy Theory for Forgiveness
Choi Ho-Jung

Abstract
This research aims to establish a theoretical basis for forgiveness intervention art therapy, based on the substantial theory of parental forgiveness experience and process, which was derived through the grounded theory methodology. This research of participants were 16 women. They had pain from their parents and experienced a forgiveness process. Interview data and pictures were collected from participants, which were analyzed in the grounded theory methodology of Strauss and Corbin. As a result, 'a journey to forgiveness' was drawn as a central phenomenon. As a key category, 'self-forgiveness to encounter during a journey to parental forgiveness' was drawn from the selective coding procedure. The parental forgiveness process consists of four stages; 'a fight with forgiveness', 'an encounter with forgiveness', 'a journey to forgiveness' and 'a companion with scars' and those with experience in 'self-forgiveness to encounter during a journey to parental forgiveness' were divided into 'conflict-duration type', 'complacent- type' and 'maturity-pursuit type'. This research has significance by providing basic data for a theoretical background of forgiveness intervention art therapy.
